Gleix Video Synth #10 // Vimana
Semi-modular audiovisual synthesizer, feedback generator, composite VFX processor & analog video loopback.
This device is model no. GVS010 and is the first in the series to feature a fully revised internal design & silkscreen printed front panels. All additional circuits have been consolidated into a single PCB (excluding the additional patch-panel PCB up top), and all controls are now PCB mounted as well. This is, moving forward, the standard build style that the GVS series will take as far as the feature selection on the front panel goes.
This machine contains just about every feature available in previous builds along with some new ones & some quality of life improvements. It’s designed for generating analog feedback looks, as a loopback with video mixers, and as a standalone glitchy video FX processor.
The I/O includes a composite video output, composite video input, a VGA output, an external audio input (1/8” and 1/4”), and a standard 2.1mm barrel jack for a 12v power supply.
I/O Panel
12v power jack (2.1mm, center positive)
Composite video output
Composite video input
Selection switch (internal feedback loop VS external composite video input)
VGA video output
1/8” audio input
1/4” audio input
General features
On/off switch
NTSC/PAL selection switch
Image direction controls (up/down/left/right/zoom in & out)
Menu buttons for adjusting parameters (brightness/contrast/saturation/hue, etc…)
RGB mix knobs
RGB pulse buttons
Image freeze button
Image freeze switch
Oscillator
On/off switch
Speed range selection switch (low range = LFO, color flashes / high range = oscillator, scanlines)
Rate, shape, depth knobs
Send switches for red, green, blue
Send switch for image freeze (at slow oscillator speeds this will freeze the image in time with the oscillator, at high speeds this will act like a slit-scan effect)
Audio / Amp / Noise Generator
Internal audio amplifier on/off switch
Audio input will bypass amplifier and go directly to RGB sends if amplifier is off
Audio amp can generate noise if no audio is being sent to the device
RGB send knobs
CV
CV inputs for red, green, blue color channels
CV inputs for image direction up, down, left, right, zoom in/out
Directional CV inputs have bypass switches to easily kill the movement input
Patch Panel
24 point patchbay for cross-patching to achieve glitches, receiving external signals, routing audio out of the machine
4x switches routed to 2x patch points. For easily routing patch points to switches & turning connections on and off.
Additional menu buttons
